Cape Verde-based group Ferro Gaita will be in the United States in May to promote the band’s newly released album, “Cidade Velha.”
On May 8th, Ferro Gaita will perform at A&J Events 4 U in Kissimmee, Florida, followed by the S.O.B.’s in New York City, NY, on May 9th.
The band will then travelled to Maine where they are scheduled to debut at the Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield on May 15th. The highlight of this tour will be Ferro Gaita’s performance at Patriot’s Place (Showcase Live) in Foxborough, MA, on May 16th.
The six-piece band--Eduino (accordion, vocals), Bino (vocals), Adão (bass), Jorge Pimpa (drums), Manel di Tilina (percussions) and Pito (cowbell/buzio)--recently concluded its European Tour with performances in Portugal, Holland, and Luxembourg.
“Cidade Velha,” released in December 2008, is the band’s fourth studio album. It features Ferro’s Gaita’s trademark style-- Funaná, Batuku, and Tabanka. The songs are penned by Iduino, João Cerilo, Kim Alves, Felix Lopes, Nenas Rambo, Polito, and Ecio Cardoso.
