On the evening of Friday, August 14th 2009, Capeverdean musician Zé Rui DePina will perform at Waterplace Park in Providence, Rhode Island.

The concert, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30pm is part of the city of Providence’s Friday Night Concert Series featuring other local artists like Santa Mamba, 07/17, Pendragon, 07/24, Route .44, 07/31 and Magnolia, 08/07.

Currently in Austria where he and band are backing chanteuse Maria de Barros, Zé Rui released his third solo album “Nha Luz” (My light) in 2004.  He previously recorded two solo projects, “Si ke Mundu” in 1996 and “Natural” in 2001. He was formerly part of the bands “Os Pecos,” “Ice,” and “Netinhos di Vóvó,” which also included Kim Alves, Albertino, and Dicki di Anu Nobo.
