Out of this World

Written by Osvaldo Dos Reis 18. May 2009 05:05

Songs to love!

Written by Nuria Chantre 10. February 2009 14:49
They say great songs last forever.  Ok, so maybe we heard it in a movie.  But there is no denying that music of any kind, style or sound has the potential to last beyond our imagination, reminding us again and again that it is not meant to be confined to one specific audience. ... [More]

Let’s imagine for a moment that you are a music producer looking to sign the next big artist who will generate substantial financial benefits, let’s say, for you and your record company. As an ambitious producer, your goal is to take this artist and hit markets that you have never reached before. Therefore, considering that recording an album represents a serious investment in time and money, this artist needs to adhere to your criteria. [More]

Good Morning, Brazil

Written by Nuria Chantre 2. November 2008 17:52
Remember last year’s star-studded “La Semaine Du Cap-Vert,” which ran in Paris, France, from May 26th through June 3rd 2007? Well, it’s Brazil’s turn to get completely engulfed by our culture. The South American country, or at least a small part of it, Santo André... [More]

Written by Gus Martins 14. October 2008 03:18
Until she was transformed into an international sensation in the early 1990s, singer Cesaria Evora’s life seemed destined to be one great tragedy. Coincidentally linked

Written by Osvaldo Dos Reis 24. March 2008 05:27
The month of March has not been very pleasant for Cape Verde, as two of its musical legends have been hospitalized due to health problems. First, singer Cesaria Evora put a temporary halt to her tour in Australia due to what is being called a "mild stroke." Shortly after, singer Andriano Gonçalves, a.k.a. Bana, spent several days in the hospital battling diabetes and other health issues. Both Cesaria, 68, and Bana, 76, have considerably contributed to the advancement of Capeverdean culture as they have inspired and will continue to inspire a whole generation of singers to come. Lover's Lounge

Written by Lucy Coutinho 25. February 2008 05:18
I am compelled to share the feeling I came away with on Saturday, February 16th at the Lover’s Lounge show in New Jersey. Though I was so overcome by emotions, I felt just as empowered. Love is a sentiment that is too often underappreciated. [More]

Written by Nuria Chantre 25. February 2008 05:17
My last Sunday in Cabo Verde looks and feels like a Picture-Perfect Day! Here I am surrounded by coconut trees, lounging in my bikini by the pool, with the sun beaming on my face (and on my bum), my favorite fashion magazines (Vogue, Glamour, Elle) laid out before me just the way I love, and there...
