Spring musts: Teasing Sun, check; Sunscreen, also check (ok, this is a total lie, I only almost bought a tube yesterday, honestly the current minimal sun exposure does not yet justify the use of anything beyond a pair of aviator sunglasses); Travel opportunity, double check.

Every year in April we all get happier, as if now we’re not so much just waiting for summer, we are actually doing something even better—enjoying every second of the teasingly higher temperatures and the sight of flocking college students to the sidewalks.  There is just a lot of promising excitement in the air: the arrival of eager tourists ready to soak in all the goodness of our world and rock (in a good way) our universe a bit, inexplicable urges to start a daily Häagen-Dazs routine, and maybe even go on a trip. 

Something about the fourth month screams vacation, adventure and yes, an appetite for new sounds. 

If you are reading this now chances are you have already heard the very exciting news that Ferro Gaita is expected to perform right here in the East Coast of the United States at least three times this spring.   (You can read the details here: http://www.sodadeonline.com/articles/a/music.aspx?articleid=1028&zoneid=1). 

Furthermore, Sodade cover artist Ilo Ferreira will make the trip from Cape Verde to North America very soon for a series of concerts here in the upcoming weeks.  

If you are not familiar with Ferro Gaita or Ilo Ferreira’s music, which is very unlikely since you are already reading this, you’ve got a bit of work to do.  And luckily you don’t have to go very far.  Browse our Online Shop for a taste of Ferro Gaita’s older albums, and note that they recently released Cidade Velha.  But from our perspective, suffice it to know that if you’ve never seen a great band live, their performance could set you up for amazingly high standards. 

And about Ilo, who under the wings of Jimmy Buffett has already performed in front of thousands at a time before even completing his soon-to-be-released first album, all the details outlining his incredible journey to music stardom are conveniently featured in the winter issue of Sodade Magazine (also available in our Online Shop) for your reading pleasure.   We make all this so easy for you, readers, but really anyone can read about these incredible artists and add them to their music library. 

You see, sometimes, April or not, we simply must follow the sun (that Vitamin D thing and all).  So, regardless of what you do now, remember: there is virtually nothing we can’t do without a good dosage of happiness.  Whether it’s caused by the bit of sunlight sneaking in through the windowpane this morning, or the plain realization that we suddenly find ourselves somewhere entirely new, finally understanding what it truly means to be on the road to something great. 

So, we’ll take that sunscreen after all.  Our time in the sun is multiplying by the thousands!
